Screenagers: Under the Influence Community Movie Screening & Panel Discussion
The Knowledge Empowers Youth (KEY) Coalition invites you to join us for a screening of the film Screenagers: Under the Influence, and hear from local community members and experts on the issues of youth substance use, social media, tips for teens and parents, and more.
Screenagers Under The Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs, and Alcohol in the Digital Age delves into how the tech revolution has reshaped adolescence and its effects on substance use. The film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents and schools can use to encourage healthy decision-making, support teen mental health, set limits, and create healthy home environments. Check out the trailer here. Following the documentary screening, we will be hosting a panel discussion featuring local experts, community members affected by substance use, and youth. The discussion will provide all attendees with the opportunity to hear from and ask questions about what our youth are facing and how we as a community can support their health, development, and well-being.
Doors to the theatre will open at 6:30 pm, and the film will begin promptly at 6:45 pm. The panel discussion will follow at 8:00 pm. All attendees will receive free popcorn and a goodie bag featuring resources from our community partners. Free street parking is available on Central Ave and throughout downtown Wilmette. This event is recommended for parents, community members, and youth ages 12 and up.
